   Church and Congregations

Most members of the BFLC's 30 congregations are first-generation Hindu converts, many of whom face social and family isolation. The pastors reach people through house visitations of believers and non-believers, evangelistic meetings and biblical preaching. Each church has a public address system so that the services are heard throughout the village; even while not attending church, nonbelievers still hear the Word of God. In many villages, the BFLC congregation is the only church.

The 3- to 4-hour Sunday worship services are comprised of singing, reading three scripture lessons, preaching, and intercessory prayer. As preparation for Sunday services, believers fast, memorize scriptures, and hold Saturday prayer meetings. Pastors encourage memorization of scriptures and hymns. Pastors hold evangelistic meetings several times a year.

BFLC congregations meet in a variety of structures, from completed buildings (photo, upper left) to rented rooms in local houses. The building in this photo (right) is about halfway built. Construction costs are an ongoing need for BFLC.
