Christianity in Southeastern India
- Religion by Percentage.
The people of Andhra Pradesh are 85% Hindu, 12.5% Muslim, and only 2.5% Christian.
- Theistic Worldview.
Ritualism is predominant; Jesus is most easily accepted as "a god".
- Stigmas.
Viewed as a non-Indian religion, Christianity is widely considered less-legitimate.
- Legal Discrimination.
Under the law, Christians cannot adopt orphans, and are denied certain government benefits.
- Cultural Hinduism.
The language, anecdotal metaphor, and thought is set in a Hindu frame of reference.
